We only use the very best performance glazing options, like low iron ultra-clear, acoustic laminated, low emissivity, heat-absorbing, Argon filled, warm edge spacers. Our glazing systems allow for triple glazing to a really low Ug-value of 0.5 W/m2K ( that's a really high R-value of 2.0 m2K/W), which we optimize for Australian conditions. While using German Engineering your windows and doors, we do outstanding Acoustic performance too, with weighted sound reduction index Rw > 45dB (class 5); double box windows an outstanding Rw > 50 dB (class 6). For a professional and quality outcome, our company offers a complete installation service of our products.

Why Timber?

Style
Timber is timeless. Timber is contemporary. Timber is stylish. Timber gives the utmost flexibility in Design. ETW+D's European forebears used time-honored timber with regard to their windows, doors, and claddings, traditionally getting work done in Oak, Larch, and Nordic Redwood. We're proud to go on that tradition and provides the identical materials, complemented with modern, technically enhanced timbers. Always durable.

Those timbers include Accoya®, and thermally modified (TM) timbers, Abodo®, Cambia® Ash, TM Oak and TM Poplar.  Also classic Australia timbers like Spotted Gum, Blackbutt, Silver Top Ash, and Blackwood (internally).  That way we can offer a diverse range to integrate both external cladding considerations, and internal design.

We in-house laminate the whole timber as solid 3 to 4 layer configurations which enables an infinite selection of design and magnificence options. We're keen about the performance, quality, and sustainability of timber.  We NEVER use Victorian Ash hardwoods, Western Red Cedar, New Guinea Rosewood, Meranti, Merbau, as they are compromised in durability or source sustainability.

Energy Efficiency
When formatted correctly and incorporating the most beneficial materials and finishes, timber windows and doors provide the best thermal performance. Our products don't just feel warm they may be warm. Timber is cool and stays cool.

Glazing for energy efficiency
Doors and windows require special consideration when planning an energy-efficient and comfy home. Glazed areas can take up a large proportion of exterior walls in the building and if these glazed areas or maybe the material that supports these are inferior, the thermal integrity entrance in its entirety is compromised.

Timber is insulating
Compared with metal, timber has a minimal thermal conductivity. Steel is 100 times more thermally conductive, whilst aluminium is 2000 times more thermally conductive. By employing local hardwoods which has the strength of steel, we will build large fenestration elements that boast outstanding performance.

ETW+D was an early adopter of Accoya® timber , with extremely low thermal conductivity of 0.12 W/mK, and outstanding durability, with a guaranteed service life of 50 years. It's typically our first choice external timber.  ETW+D also uses Thermally Modified (TM) timbers:  Abodo®,   Cambia® Ash,  TM Oak and TM Poplar (Tulipwood). We also offer a range of FSC, PEFC sustainable timbers. Internally we use a range of timbers for either their insulating or visual features. Determined by availability and suitability, we also source recycled timber.

Making the Modernist “glass box” very comfortable
Our timber curtain wall system is Passive House Institute Certified Component.  We use nearly 50mm thick triple-glazed, insulated glass units into a minimal Ug-value of 0.5 W/m2K (R-value 2.0 m2K/W). We optimize all triple glazing  for Australian conditions to minimize glare reducing heat gain where needed.

External Blinds
We also integrate external blinds for optimal shading. Installed from the frame of your window or door, to minimize heat gain and glare, and provide privacy where needed.

Let's talk R-Values
By comparing these R-Values below, you can actually see that all the action - goes right in/out the windows & doors!
  *Roof: R-value of 4 m2K/W
  *Walls: R-value of 2 m2K/W
  *Floor: R-value of 1 m2K/W

Given all heat losses through windows in Winter, we should target windows with the R-Value of at least 1 m2K/W, so that's a U-value of 1 W/m2K. To suit the wall insulation performance, with large glazed areas, we propose our triple glazed systems to an outstanding R-value of  2.0 m2K/W. In Summer must significantly reduce heat gain. We advise high-performance insulated glass units with low-emissivity coatings (high in reflectivity), ideally on some surfaces; with low Solar Heat Gain Coefficient (SHGC). We only use the very best performing Low-E double and triple glazed insulated glass units to supply the best performance. Insulated glass units are a minimum of 28mm deep for double glazed; 36mm for triple glazed to 50mm. As every orientation of an building is unique, we specify different glass to optimize the performance.
